Terms of Use

What these terms are

These terms govern your use of peeracademics.com and of any account you hold on it. They are between you and the Publisher, Asociația Societatea Studenților din Uniunea Europeană (EUSS). By using the site you accept them; if you do not accept them, do not use the site. Reading published articles requires no account and no registration, but it is still use of the site.

These terms sit alongside the journal's editorial policies. Where a policy states a specific rule for authors, reviewers, or editors — the Author Guidelines, Publication Ethics, Reviewer Ethics — that rule applies in addition to what is written here.

Accounts

  • An account belongs to one identifiable person. Register under the name you publish and work under, give a working email address you control, and keep both current. Institutional or shared accounts are not permitted.
  • Do not create an account under a false or borrowed identity, do not hold more than one account, and do not register on someone else's behalf. Suggesting a reviewer who does not exist, or one whose contact address you control, is treated as misconduct, not merely as a breach of these terms.
  • You are responsible for what is done through your account. Keep your password confidential, do not share it, and tell [email protected] promptly if you believe your account has been used by someone else.
  • You may ask for your account to be closed at any time by writing to [email protected]. Closing an account does not withdraw a submission under review or remove a published article; see the Privacy Statement.
  • Accounts are for people aged 16 or over.

What you may do with the content

You may read, download, print, store, and link to published articles without asking permission. Reuse beyond what copyright law permits depends on the license applied to the article, which the Publisher has not yet fixed; see the Copyright Notice and the Publishing Model. Authors retain copyright in their articles; the site itself, its design, its name, and its logo belong to the Publisher and are not covered by any article license.

What you may not do

  • Harm the service. No attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, server, or part of the system; no probing, scanning, or testing of security without written permission; no uploading of malware; no action intended to disrupt or overload the site.
  • Harvest abusively. Automated access is permitted at a rate that does not degrade service for others and that respects the site's robots file. Use the OAI-PMH interface for metadata rather than scraping pages. Systematic bulk downloading, mirroring of the full corpus, or redistribution of journal content as a competing collection is not permitted without written permission.
  • Extract personal data. Author and reviewer contact details on this site may not be collected for mailing lists, recruitment, marketing, or the promotion of any publishing service. Sending unsolicited bulk email to addresses obtained here is prohibited, and will be reported.
  • Break the anonymity of review. Do not attempt to identify the authors of a manuscript you are reviewing or the reviewers of your own manuscript, and do not circulate, publish, or feed into an external tool any manuscript, report, or decision letter entrusted to you.   • Submit what is not yours to submit. Do not upload material you do not have the right to publish, material that infringes copyright, or material that is unlawful, defamatory, or violates the privacy of a research participant.
  • Abuse people. Threats, harassment, or abusive messages directed at editors, reviewers, authors, or staff — through the system or by email — end the correspondence and may end your access.
  • Misrepresent the journal. Do not use the journal's name or logo to imply endorsement, do not claim an editorial role you do not hold, and do not solicit submissions or payments in the journal's name. Peer Academics charges no fees; report any invoice issued in its name to [email protected].

What happens if you break these terms

The Publisher's response is proportionate to what happened, and you are told what is being done and why. Depending on the breach, the Publisher may: warn you; block automated access or an IP range; suspend or close your account; decline to consider your submissions; unpublish or retract content obtained or submitted in breach, under Corrections and Retractions; report conduct to your institution or employer where the conduct is research misconduct; and pursue legal remedies. Where a breach concerns the integrity of the published record rather than the website, it is handled under Misconduct Investigations, which gives you an opportunity to respond before a conclusion is reached. A decision to close an account or refuse submissions may be appealed under Complaints and Appeals.

Availability and accuracy

The site is provided as it is. The Publisher does not guarantee uninterrupted availability: the service is maintained, updated, and occasionally interrupted, and no commitment is given that any page will be reachable at a given moment. Published articles are the responsibility of their authors; the journal reviews and edits them but does not warrant that any statement in an article is correct, and nothing published here is professional, medical, or legal advice. Links to external sites are given for convenience and imply no endorsement or responsibility for their content.

To the extent permitted by Romanian law, the Publisher is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing in them limits your rights under the GDPR or under consumer protection law.

Personal data

How the journal handles personal data is described in the Privacy Statement, which forms part of these terms. The site uses only technically necessary cookies and runs no advertising or third-party analytics.

Changes, law, and contact

These terms may be amended; the current version is always the one on this page, and material changes are announced to registered users. A change does not apply retrospectively to a submission already under review. These terms are governed by Romanian law, and the courts competent for the Publisher's registered seat in Bucharest have jurisdiction, without depriving you of the protection of mandatory rules of the country where you live.
